founded by interior designer, tselane bolofo, the inspiration behind zamindlela was rooted in the legacy of her grandfather, dr. wilson zamindlela conco. a visionary whose life and work have left an indelible mark on south african history. graduating at the top of his class in medicine at wits university in 1948, dr. conco was the only black student in his course. while in exile in canada he studied psychiatry. upon his return to South Africa in 1994, he began to write about mental health within african communities. dr. conco understood that to create a truly inclusive healthcare system, traditional medicine must be part of the conversation - recognising its significance in the lives of many africans. his vision of a healthcare system that marries western and traditional practices is a testament to the power of symbiosis—an ethos that resonates deeply with us at zamindlela.
